Made for Greatness: Becoming Holy Disciples of Christ - POSTPONED

For single men aged 18+ who want to deepen their relationship with Jesus, grow in holiness, and discover where the Lord might be leading. As men walk this path of discipleship together, they'll explore the ways they are each uniquely called to build the Kingdom: through holy marriage, religious life, or priesthood.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Coordinators Formation Webinar: This Wonderful Sacrament

In 2018, the Office of Formation for Discipleship produced This Wonderful Sacrament: A Guide for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. This webinar will be an opportunity for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Coordinators and Clergy to come together and discuss the document. We will look at the contents of the document and ways that it can be and is being used in parishes in the Archdiocese.  It is recommended that attendees read the document before attending. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Webinar
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are invited to join us for an online  Formation event. Participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, will be provided the Archdiocesan policies that pertain to Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and discuss some best practices for those serving in this ministry. Please note that while this formation opportunity has gone online, it is the same content as previous, in person, formation events.

RCIA during a Pandemic: What do we do now?
As formal RCIA programs begin again, we know that the reality of COVID-19 has changed how many aspects around the initiation of adults will be addressed. From catechetical sessions to gathering for Mass and Breaking Opening the Word, we are not able to gather together in ways that are familiar to the RCIA process. This webinar will look at ways that those involved in RCIA can continue the good work they are doing. It will look at ways to provide spiritual and catechetical formation in a time when we are not able to be together in person.

Joy-Filled Marriage Preparation Training Webinar

The Archdiocese has partnered with Catholic Family Services of Toronto, permanent deacons in the Archdiocese of Toronto, and Ascension Press to deliver Joy-Filled Marriage as the central marriage preparation program in the Archdiocese of Toronto.

We are sponsoring two events to assist parishes with learning about and/or using the new program.  There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.

Training Sessions:
We have also invited Ascension Press to lead a virtual training day for marriage preparation teams and facilitators on Saturday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  A special invitation is extended to parishes that formerly used the Catholic Family Services of Toronto marriage preparation program.

RCIA and the Marriage Tribunal: What an RCIA Catechist Needs to Know?
In journeying with people seeking initiation, RCIA catechists may meet people who have been separated or divorced from their spouse. Often that leads to the person having their marriage brought to the Marriage Tribunal. With Fr. Alexander Laschuk, Judicial Vicar and Fr. Ed Curtis, Rector of St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica and Judge for the Tribunal, this webinar will provide some information and the role and work of the Marriage Tribunal as well information on what the RCIA catechist needs to know to assist the candidate or catechumen.

Lector Formation Webinar
The Archdiocese of Toronto invites Lectors into a deeper understanding of the importance of the liturgical celebrations of the Church, and the Liturgy of the Word through formation sessions offered throughout the year. This session will cover topics such as: the role of the Liturgy of the Word with a focus specifically on Sunday Mass; the importance of the Proclamation of the Word of God; the importance of Sacred Scripture in the Church; how the Scriptures came to be and the Church’s interpretation; and the policies of the Archdiocese of Toronto, best practices, and practical tips. Clergy are also welcome to attend. Please register as soon as possible as space is limited. This formation opportunity is the same as the in-person events that have been offered by the Office of Formation for Discipleship. Information about how to join the webinar will be sent to the email provided at registration closer to the event.

Training is open to current Readers (Lectors) and clergy.

Formation for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
The Archdiocese of Toronto invites Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to participate in a formation session that reflects on the mystery of the Eucharist, theology of the Liturgy, and the specific duties of this ministry.

This session will provide time for participants to learn more about:
  • The theology of the Eucharist.
  • The Eucharistic Prayer and its importance in the Liturgy.
  • An overview of the role of the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion in the liturgy.
  • A review of the policies of the Archdiocese of Toronto and other best practices.

Training is open to current Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Clergy.

3rd Annual Parish Ministry Conference
Our 3rd Annual Virtual Parish Ministry Conference, "Called to be Saints" (1 Cor 1: 2) will be held on October 30 & 31, 2020. Clergy, parish staff and volunteers currently involved in parish ministries, pastoral councils or committees, and associated partners such as religious orders, agencies, educational institutions, and lay movements are all invited to attend this conference. 

Our focused track structure ensures that you receive a solid formation in the ministries in which you serve. Pre-recorded videos from our speakers coupled with our live stream sessions where you can share and ask questions, will provide a personalized experience to help you grow in holiness.

To conclude our conference, our Special Guest Speaker, His Eminence, Cardinal Thomas Collins, will speak about what it means to be holy and how to walk the path of a saint. After his talk, he will partake in a live Q&A answering all your questions related to the theme of the conference. We will also be collecting questions beforehand, so feel free to email Annalisa Parente at aparente@archtoronto.org by October 28, 2020.
